How To Speed Up Citra Emulator Mac: Best Settings and Optimization Tips

Citra seems to have better performance when on a sperate Desktop in Mac OS.If I run Ultra Moon, I get around 28-30 fps but if I switch to a different desktop I can hear Citra speed up to around 54 fps, and if I quickly go back I can see the fps at 54 slowly dip back to 28.

How To Speed Up Citra Emulator Mac

Citra is a work-in-progress Nintendo 3DS emulator started in early 2013. Citra can currently emulate, with varying degrees of success, a wide variety of different homebrew applications and commercial software.

Citra can run most games at variable speed, depending on your hardware configuration. However, not all games are created equally and therefore some games will run at full speed while others might suffer from slow emulation. You may also experience some slowdowns.

As mentioned earlier, not all games are created equal. Citra might run certain games better than others regardless of your hardware. Some games may also require specific workarounds to make them run at decent speeds. These types of workarounds are usually posted on our Game Compatibility List for that game.

Go to Emulation -> Configuration (Citra -> Preferences on MacOS) -> General, set your Emulation Speed slider to your desired speed and disable Use Alternate Speed if that is turned on.

Go to Emulation -> Configuration (Citra -> Preferences on MacOS) -> General. Set your Emulation Speed slider to what you want your regular speed to be. Then set your Use Alternate Speed slider to what you want your speed-up/fast forward speed to be. Navigate to the Controls -> Hotkey menu. Find the Toggle Alternate Speed option and double click it to change it to whatever key you want your speed-up/fast forward key to be. Press OK and enjoy.

If you try some games and run into issues like graphical glitches, freezes and especially regressions from previous versions, you can try reporting them in our issue tracker, accompanied by logs from the emulator if possible. Do not report an issue if a game simply fails to boot entirely.

A fast forward button works by changing how long the emulator idles for while waiting for the next frame. Because the emulator can output frames at a much faster rate than it needs to, it makes the game look like its going faster. Indeed, outputting more frames a second does make the game play faster, but this only works because there is idle time that you can shrink.

A hotkey to change the limit of speed percentage would be nice enough. So when playing pokemon i can run through the grinding faster while not making the normal running around weird. Especially the music sounds weird when played too fast.

Intel Pentium e2200geforce 9300 GEmy computer seems to be running a lot slower. all games even shovel knight cant even get near half speed but just a while ago on the same PC all games were running at 30 fps on native resolution

So, you tried playing 3DS games on your Android phone with the Citra emulator. But you had low FPS, lags, and choppy sound. We will show you how to fix lags with the help of the Citra resolution hack, using simple steps.

Citra MMJ supports cheat codes. It also has many settings that are not present in the official Citra emulator app. The official Citra app supports save states, while the Citra MMJ build does not have this feature.

Post-Processing effect is turned off by default, enabling this reduces the performance. Custom Textures requires you to download textures from third-party sites, using additional textures impacts the performance. CPU-Usage Limit is best left disabled, otherwise Citra will use less resources and run slower. Speed Limt changes the emulation speed, 100% is the normal speed, while 50% plays it at half the speed. Factor-3D should be set at 0.

Try changing the resolution from 1x to 2x, 3x and 4x. Your game may start lagging on higher resolutions. Ideally, you should aim for maximum FPS, VPS and Speed. For example, if the speed is 99-100% on resolution 2x, but has bad performance on resolution 3x, then you should stick to the 2x resolution.

FPS refers to frame rate per second. It is worth mentioning that most 3DS games run at 30 FPS, so if you see 29-30 FPS that is normal. VPS stands for Vertical Interrupts Per Second, it basically refers to the refresh rate. If Citra shows 60 VPS, it means the game is running at 60Hz refresh rate. Speed represents the emulation performance, as in emulation speed.

We recommend using Citra MMJ for best performance. It is designed to run on lower end devices, but we find it to be better even on high end phones. Many users claim to have played games on Snapdragon 665 devices, and phones with MediaTek and Exynos processors, using the Citra MMJ emulator.

We still recommend using HLE (Fast) Audio emulation until further speed improvements are added to LLE (Accurate) emulation! Today we are pleased to announce that many bugs are fixed, but we are also aware that LLE (Accurate) audio makes every game run at around 5FPS or less! 2ff7e9595c
